The Benefits of Our Golden Hemp Face Oil

Not all oils are created equal. Face oil is a must-have in our skin care routine, so we set out to make a face oil that ends all other face oils.

What types of oils are in your face oil?

We use hemp seed oil as our main ingredient along with a blend of eight other powerhouse oils that harmoniously work together to tackle a variety of skin care concerns. All the oils we use are non-comedogenic with a rating of 0-1, meaning they will not clog your pores. If you have acne-prone skin it's always important to use skin care products that are non-comedogenic! We also add a touch jasmine oil, which makes the oil smell divine.

Let's breakdown all our oils:

Hemp Seed Oil

Rich in fatty acids and omega acids 3, 6, and 9, hemp seed oil soothes and hydrates the skin, draws moisture in, and balances oil production. It works with all skin types (oily, dry, combination, acne-prone, mature) to fight inflammation, nourish the skin, and protect the skin barrier. A true hero oil.

Squalane

Squalane mimics your skin's natural oils and is one of the best oils for repairing a damaged skin barrier and dehydrated skin. It is a master moisturizer that melts into your skin, provides hydration, and acts as an occlusive (meaning it locks moisture in). Our squalane is vegan and derived from olives.

Grapeseed Oil

Rich in Vitamin E, polyphenols, and antioxidants, grape seed oil protects your skin from free radical damage, strengthens your skin barrier, hydrates and firms skin, and prevents moisture loss. It also contains anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties that help cleanse the skin, combat breakouts, and promote healing.

Turmeric Oil

Turmeric is known as a 'skin-saver'. It helps manage oily skin by regulating sebum production and its antiseptic and antibacterial properties help combat acne. Turmeric fights redness and inflammation, promotes clear and smooth skin, and improves your skin's radiance. It also contains anti-aging properties that reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

Rosehip Oil

High in Vitamin A (as beta-carotene), C, and E, antioxidants, omegas, rosehip oil is a holy grail oil. It aids in skin regeneration and helps reduce the signs of aging and sun damage, improves skin tone and texture, and increases skin elasticity. Rosehip oil has strong healing and restorative properties that work to hydrate, soothe, and brighten your skin.

Safflower Oil

Great for acne-prone skin, safflower oil is high in linoleic acid that targets skin impurities and helps reduce blackheads and whiteheads. It contains antioxidant properties that promote healthy and clearer-looking skin as well as a high concentration of omega-6 fatty acids that deliver moisture to the skin.

Sea Buckthorn Oil

Containing the entire family of omegas (3, 6, 9, and the rare 7) along with high concentrations of Vitamin E (as beta-carotene), Vitamin C, and Vitamin E, sea buckthorn oil is known for its repairing and regenerative properties. It is able to penetrate deep into your lipid layer to diminish skin imbalances, improve skin tone, and support a healthy skin structure.

Watermelon Seed Oil

Another amazing oil for acne-prone skin. Watermelon seed oil dissolves sebum, eliminates dead skin, restores elasticity, and locks in moisture. It is extremely hydrating and helps prevent your skin from drying out.

Jasmine Oil

Creating a product that was fragrance-free was a non-negotiable for us, so we added jasmine oil to our blend to create a divine scent that reminds you of being at the spa. Apart from its beautiful scent, jasmine oil is a restorative oil that helps combat aging and damaged skin and provides moisture to the skin barrier.

What other skin care ingredients did you add to your oil?

We also add in Vitamin E for extra hydration, hyaluronic acid for extra glow, and a few clean and safe additives that help penetrate and lock the oil deep into your skin. We wanted to avoid creating an oil that felt too "oily" and make sure everyone (even those new to oils) fell in love with the texture.

Vitamin E (Tocopherol)

Vitamin E is a popular skin care ingredient loved by dermatologists and found in many skin care products. It is an antioxidant that can discourage sebum oxidation and prevent blackheads. It is also extremely hydrating and healing and helps your skin retain moisture for hours after application. It also soothes irritation from pollution and sun damage and supports a healthy skin barrier. Many of the oils in our products contain Vitamin E, but it was a no-brainer to us to add an extra dose and receive even more of its benefits.

Hyaluronic Acid (Sodium Hyaluronate)

Hyaluronic acid is well-known in the skin care industry for its powerful hydration. One of the biggest culprits of aging and distressed-looking skin is a lack of hydration and dryness. Hyaluronic acid tackles this with its ability to retain moisture in your skin and improve your skin's moisture barrier. When hyaluronic acid is used in an oil you will notice a more pronounced glow on your bare skin. Using our oil consistently will result in plumper, more hydrated, and glowing skin.

Clean Additives

All our additives are considered safe and have the lowest possible rating of a 1 (out of 10) on EWG's danger scale. They are added to our product in order to help the other ingredients perform better and penetrate deeper into the skin. They also help with the texture and consistency of the product. Our Golden Hemp Face Oil is considered alcohol-free; there are two very different types of alcohols when it comes to skin care products. One is the bad kind that eats up your skin's moisture barrier and should be avoided (alcohol denat, benzyl alcohol, ethanol, ethyl alcohol, isopropyl alcohol, methanol, SD alcohol). The other is the good kind: these are fatty alcohols that act as moisturizing agents and help thicken thin formulas. They also help water and oil mix.

Key Terms:

  • Emollient: conditions and soothes skin; retains moisture
  • Humectant: attracts water
  • Solvent: enhances penetration of skin care products

Ethylhexyl Palmitate is a mixture of a fatty alcohol and palmitic acid that is used as an emollient, solvent, and texture enhancer in skin care products.

Silica Dimethyl Silylate is an ultra-lightweight fumed silica that is extremely absorbent and when combined with oils it creates transparent oil gels (suspends particles in oils) and reduces the oily feel.

Butylene Glycol is an organic alcohol that is used as a humectant, solvent, and emollient in skin care products.

Pentylene Glycol is a solvent and skin-conditioning agent. It has a silky smooth texture and also acts as a moisturizer.

What makes your face oil different from other face oils?

Over the course of a year we tested out different oil combinations and formulations to create the best face oil we've ever tried. We use hemp seed oil as our main ingredient due to its strong hydrating and healing powers. We then chose some of our other favorite oils (many of which can be used as stand-alone face oils) and tweaked our combination until we had the perfect mixture. All our oils are non-comedogenic and contain a variety of omega fatty acids, antioxidants, vitamins, and polyphenols.

We know some people are wary of face oils, so we wanted to be sure all the oils in our product worked with all skin types, including those with oily and acne-prone skin. We also did not want it to feel too "oily" and we wanted to ensure you saw a noticeable glow. The combination of our ingredients make for the perfect face oil that has a smooth texture and soaks beautifully into your skin.

What is the best way to use your face oil?

Our face oil can be used in a variety of ways depending on your skin's need and your skin care routine:

  1. After cleansing your skin, apply the face oil to slightly damp skin as a one-and-done serum and moisturizer.
  2. After using your favorite serum or moisturizer, apply the face oil afterward to lock in extra moisture.
  3. After using your favorite serum, mix a few drops of the oil with your favorite moisturizer to give it an extra boost of hydration.
  4. You can apply as many drops as needed and re-apply throughout the day if your skin is feeling extra dry. If you are using the oil before you gua sha, you may want to apply closer to 10 drops.

Always apply your SPF after you apply the face oil. Do not apply the face oil and then a different serum or moisturizer on top - the oil could prevent your other serum or moisturizer from penetrating your skin depending on what the base of the product is.

To get the most out of our face oil, use it in both your morning and nighttime routines. You will see immediate results after applying the oil as it makes your skin not only glow but also look plump, hydrated, and more even toned upon application. Consistent use of the product will provide you with even more benefits such as reducing the appearance of fine lines, combatting breakouts, brightening dark spots, and improving skin texture.

Is it safe to use if my skin is breaking out?

Yes! Our face oil is extremely hydrating and has excellent healing properties. One of our favorite benefits of this oil is that it helps to heal breakouts faster. When using our oil consistently it will also help prevent future breakouts. It also works as a great post-shave product and can help soothe razor burn.
